The United States has given Ukraine and Russia until June of this year to end the nearly four-year war and at the same time invited the delegations of both countries to a new round of peace negotiations next week in the USA. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this in a statement published on Saturday, TASR writes, according to AFP and AP reports.
“The Americans propose that the parties end the war by the beginning of this summer, and they will probably put pressure on the parties exactly according to this schedule,” Zelenskyy said. “They say they want everything done by June and will do everything to end the war. They want a clear schedule of all events,” he continued.
In addition, according to the Ukrainian president, Washington proposed for the first time to organize a new round of peace negotiations next week in the United States, probably in Miami. “We have confirmed our participation,” added Zelenskyj.
The latest statements of the Ukrainian president came a day after the end of tripartite negotiations between the delegations of Ukraine, Russia and the United States in the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Abu Dhabi. According to the AP agency, they did not bring any important breakthrough, as both warring parties insist on their demands.
Russia urges Ukraine to withdraw from Donbas region where intense fighting continues. Kyiv has repeatedly stated that it will never accept such a condition.
