In addition to supporting the president, union leaders also want to draw the attention of their members to the need for changes in Congress, citing as an example the impasses with the reduction of working hours and the end of the 6×1 schedule.
“It’s always a struggle when there are agendas linked to workers in Congress. If nothing is done today, it will get even worse”, says Miguel Torres, president of Força Sindical.
At the head of the UGT (General Union of Workers), Ricardo Patah says that the meeting is a show of unity among the centrals around the re-election of the current government.
“In 2022, we participated in Lula’s campaign and it was a victory with little difference. In the previous government, the [Jair] Bolsonaro wanted to exterminate the union movement, and Lula listened to us, approving our demands”, says Patah.
