“With a heavy heart, we announce that Brad Arnold, founder, vocalist and songwriter of 3 Doors Down, passed away this Saturday, February 7th, at the age of 47”, reads the Instagram post.
In addition to the way he helped “redefine mainstream rock music”, the band remembers Brad Arnold above all as “a devoted husband”.
“His kindness, humor and generosity touched everyone who was lucky enough to know him. His closest circle will remember not only his talent, but also his humility, faith and deep love for family and friends.”
In May 2025, the vocalist announced that he had been diagnosed with a renal cell carcinoma and that it had already metastasized to the lungs.
Author of the hit “Kryptonite”, a song he wrote in a mathematics class at the age of 15, Brad is survived by his wife, Jennifer Sanderford, whom he married in 2009.
