The ambition of SaS chairman Branislav Gröhling is for the party to go to the parliamentary elections on its own. At the same time, he stands for the exclusion of Richard Sulík from the future list of candidates. Notable personalities, but also party members, should be at the top of the list of candidates. The party wants to present the program in the near future. He considers the election of a new Prosecutor General before the parliamentary elections to be unacceptable. The SaS leader stated this in the Sunday talk show Politika 24 on Joj 24.
“The ambition is for SaS to go to the elections independently, and I believe in a double-digit result,” stated Gröhling. On the candidate list, he would like to have people he knows and who are on the same line of values regarding the economy or foreign policy. He confirmed negotiations on cooperation with some smaller parties or deputies. He is behind the decision not to include Sulík on the SaS candidate, and there is no scenario on the basis of which he would reconsider it. He is not worried about the outflow of voters if Sulík were to join the We are a family movement.
He did not want to comment on MP Jana Bittó Cigániková’s criticism of Sulík. In his own words, he feels support in the party, he also pointed out its growth. He can imagine Alojz Hlina in the position of Minister of Agriculture, but only if he is a member of the party. He ruled out cooperation with Ľubomír Galko. He declares that everyone in the party has the same freedom, while he does not agree that too much freedom would empty the program.
The parties would like to present the program in the near future. The effort is mainly to bring economic growth to the country. He talks about a flat tax, a lower tax and levy burden or the Estonian model of taxation and support for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs. He is convinced that the state does not need so many ministries. The topic of transport is also important to him, he announces Monday’s (February 9) performance of “personalities from Zemplín” and the field of health care.
According to him, the topic of electing a new general prosecutor before the parliamentary elections should not be broached, Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) he beckoned to “keep your hands off it.” He also characterized it as intimidation of the current Prosecutor General Maroš Žilinka, who, according to him, called that “the country is robbed and riddled with corruption”. He criticized the transfer of the Attorney General’s report, he can imagine a special meeting on this topic. He confirmed that they are debating several names of possible candidates for the post of general prosecutor, he did not want to specify the names.
He will not initiate further dismissals of the government or ministers, the party will continue its opposition policy. Banning social networks for children under 16 should be up to parents. He cannot imagine that anyone from the party or his close associates would appear in Epstein’s documents. If SaS had representation in the European Parliament, EC President Ursula von der Leyen would have her support.
