The candidate for President of the Republic voted, accompanied by his wife, at a school in Lisbon.
This Sunday, André Ventura considered it “disrespectful” to ask the Portuguese to go and vote “on a day like today”. The candidate for President of the Republic spoke to journalists after voting at a school in Lisbon, in the Parque das Nações area.
“I hope they can do it, across the country, because the circumstances are very difficult,” he said.
Ventura says that the Portuguese will decide which country they want. If they want a country in the direction it has been taking over the last few years, or if they want another one.
Speaking to journalists, he reinforced the position he has been defending that the elections should have been postponed.
“I think it’s disrespectful to send people and tell people to vote on a day like today. Especially considering what happened in the last 24 hours.”
More than 11 million voters are called to choose the new President of the Republic, in a vote that pits António José Seguro against André Ventura, the two most voted on January 18th.
In the first vote, Seguro obtained 31.1% of the votes and Ventura, 23.52%, according to the general results tabulation notice.
