In the recording, the young man appears visibly weakened, showing discomfort as the ritual progresses. The scenes generated wide repercussion, with comments ranging from curiosity to concern.
Kambô is obtained from frog secretion Phyllomedusa bicolorgenerally applied to small points on the skin after superficial burns. Its effects are quick and intense, causing physiological reactions that, according to practitioners, are part of the body’s “cleansing” process.

The kumber’s cult
Traditionally, kambô is used by indigenous peoples of the Amazon, mainly in rituals for physical and spiritual strengthening and preparation for hunting. For these communities, the practice has deep cultural meaning, linked to the connection with nature, the body’s resistance and energetic balance.
Indigenous leaders and researchers advocate that the ritual be treated with cultural respect and responsibility, avoiding its trivialization and merely experimental use.
