Zelensky announced new sanctions against manufacturers of components for Russian weapons

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy introduced new sanctions against foreign manufacturers of components for Russian drones and missiles. The measures affect companies from China, the Emirates and Panama and are intended to fundamentally make military production in Russia more difficult.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced new sanctions aimed at foreign manufacturers of components that Russia uses in the production of drones and missiles. The sanctions list included persons and companies from several countries, including China, the United Arab Emirates, Panama and some post-Soviet states. Zelenskyy emphasized on the X social network that without these foreign components, the production of Russian weapons would not be possible. Sanctions are therefore aimed not only at suppliers, but also at the manufacturers of these weapons themselves.

  • Zelensky announced new sanctions against Russian arms manufacturers.
  • The sanctions hit companies from China, the Emirates, Panama and post-Soviet states.
  • The measures also concern the financial sector and cryptocurrencies.
  • Russian attacks hit Ukrainian infrastructure, causing power outages.
  • Ukraine is asking the international community for stronger sanctions and support.

In addition, the Ukrainian president informed that the sanctions also concern the Russian financial sector and entities supporting the cryptocurrency market and mining operations. According to Zelensky, these measures are part of a wider sanctions package, which was presented by the European Commission last week as the 20th EU sanctions package. The aim is to limit Russia’s ability to finance military operations and circumvent international sanctions.

Focus on drones and missiles

In his statement, Zelensky drew attention to the intense Russian attacks that have hit Ukraine in recent weeks. Russian forces are mainly targeting energy and logistics infrastructure, which has caused widespread power and heating outages. In the capital city of Kyiv, power outages last up to 20 hours a day, which significantly affects the lives of local residents.

According to Zelensky, over the past week, Russia has launched more than 2,000 attack drones, 1,200 guided aerial bombs and 116 missiles at Ukrainian cities and villages. These attacks aim to weaken Ukraine’s infrastructure and cause as much damage as possible before the approaching winter.

Energy crisis in Ukraine

Despite ongoing diplomatic negotiations to end the war, Russia continues to escalate the conflict. The Ukrainian government is therefore calling on the international community to take further steps to help stop Russian attacks and limit their ability to obtain key components for military production. At the same time, Zelensky appealed for the strengthening of sanctions and support for Ukraine in the fight against aggression.
