António José Seguro reacted to his victory in the second round of the Portuguese presidential elections, addressing the Portuguese and stating that ‘the Portuguese people are the best people in the world’. Greeted by neighbors as ‘Mr. President’, Seguro assured that his objective is to serve the country.
In the first reaction to the victory in leaving home and accompanied by his wife, António José Seguro addressed the first word to the Portuguese.
“The Portuguese people are the best people in the world”he stated.
Greeted by several neighbors who nicknamed him “Mr. President”, Seguro guarantees that he has already received many messages and phone calls, but has not been able to respond to them all.
“My goal is to serve the country and the Portuguese.”
More than 11 million voters were called this Sunday to choose the new President of the Republic, in a vote that pits António José Seguro against André Ventura, the two most voted on January 18th.
In the first vote, Seguro obtained 31.1% of the votes and Ventura, 23.52%, according to the general results tabulation notice.
