João Cotrim Figueiredo
‘Seen like this’ will be the name of the commentary program on Sunday night – but it will not be shown on the generalist SIC.
After Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Luís Marques Mendes or Pedro Nuno Santos, another very famous politician will be commentator on television: João Cotrim de Figueiredo.
The MEP will be a commentator on the SIC News, to the Sunday night. The program will premiere later this month, February; or next Sunday, the 15th, or the 22nd.
The candidate for president of the Republic, who came in third place in the first round of elections in January, will be the protagonist of ‘Seen Like This’, own commentary space on SIC Notícias – but the program will not be shown on SIC’s generalist channelunlike what happened recently with Marques Mendes.
Bernardo Ferrão, director of SIC Notícias, explained Cotrim’s presence: “It is a political voice that marks in the current game of forces and which will enrich SIC Notícias nights with relevant and knowledgeable analysis of the country and the world”.
Last night, in the analysis of the presidential elections, João Cotrim de Figueiredo was a commentator on SIC and SIC Notícias.
It should be remembered that João Cotrim de Figueiredo had already launched a civic-political movement, the 2031 Movement, “to give voice to the 900 thousand votes in the presidential elections” – the announcement of this movement had already been made precisely on SIC Notícias.
On that day, João Cotrim de Figueiredo assured that he does not want to “predict participation in active politics” in the future: “I’m not making any applications. I want to preserve this space because it is useful for the country.”
At the time, he also said that I didn’t want to be a political commentator on television – unless they offered “the slot of Sunday night who was free”, in a reference to Marques Mendes.
