William and Kate: First comment on Andrew and Epstein, why they are worried

The Prince and Princess of Wales appear “deeply concerned” following recent revelations relating to , according to Kensington Palace sources. This is the first time the couple have spoken publicly about the issue after new details emerged about Mountbatten-Windsor’s relationship with the convicted sex offender.

As a Palace spokesman said, he and the princess are “deeply concerned” about the developments and stress that their attention and thoughts remain firmly focused on the victims. This intervention, which is generally considered rare, but apparently is imperative, comes as the pressure that the revelations have caused on the royal family is such that it triggers rapid developments.

Panic moves from the royal family

In this context, last week it became known that Andrew suddenly left his residence in Windsor, earlier than originally planned. It was originally announced that he would be leaving the Royal Lodge in early 2026, but his departure appears to have been brought forward, with him now residing in Sandringham, an estate owned by King Charles.

Andrew had a personal relationship with Epstein for years and continued to have contact with him even after he was convicted in 2008 of a sex offense against a minor. Although he has previously expressed regret for this relationship, he insists he has not been involved in any illegal activity.

Will Andrew be called to testify in the US?

Recent revelations in the US have intensified calls for Andrew to cooperate with US authorities and testify as part of an investigation. Among the documents released to the public are also included photographs that allegedly depict him in particularly aggravating moments with a woman.

Meanwhile, the new evidence appears to bolster the authenticity of the much-discussed photo in which Andrew appears with his arm around Virginia Geoffrey, who has accused him of forcing her to have sex with him when she was underage. He has at times disputed the authenticity of the image, claiming that he did not know the woman and that the photo may have been tampered with.

However, a 2015 email attributed to Ghislaine Maxwell — a close associate of Epstein’s and also present in the photo — says that in 2001, during a stay in London, the complainant met various people in her circle, including Prince Andrew, and that the photo was taken at her request.

It is recalled that Andrew reached an out-of-court settlement with Virginia Geoffrey in 2022, without acknowledging responsibility or making an official apology.
