It decorates the garden until autumn. Don't miss the sowing date

This plant can completely change the appearance of the garden, but the key moment for its cultivation is now. If we perform one simple treatment at the right time, it will reward you with long and extremely impressive flowering. We advise you what to do before sowing and how to carry it out to enjoy a beautiful plant.

In the coming weeks, we should start growing a unique plant, Patagonian verbena. It is sown as seedlings at the end of February or at the beginning of March. However, before we start, we need to properly prepare our seeds, so it is best not to delay and start this activity immediately.

It is necessary because although adult plants are not fully resistant to frost, the seeds benefit from a period of subcooling, called stratification. Carrying it out will make more seeds germinate and we will enjoy beautiful flowers. To do this, put the seeds in the refrigerator and leave them there for about 2-4 weeks.

Patagonian verbena is not complicated. However, it is worth watering the soil well before sowing, because doing it only after sowing may cause the small verbena seeds to move.

After doing this, we move on to sowing. We can use multi-pots or a larger container. Sow the seeds not too densely, placing them at a depth of about 0.5 cm. After sowing, it is worth covering the pot with transparent foil provide the seeds with appropriate temperature and moisture.

However, remember to open the cover regularly to prevent it from brewing, and when the verbena starts to sprout, remove the foil completely.

If we want our plants to develop healthily, we must provide them with the appropriate amount of light and a temperature of 20-26 degrees Celsius. You should also take care of proper hydration preferably by watering it with a delicate sprinkler or by watering young plants from belowi.e. pouring water into the stand. However, remember to pour off the excess after a while.

Patagonian verbena seedlings should then be pricked out when they have 2-3 true leaves. Remove the seedlings gently by prying them with a stick or fork. Transfer to new containers and water lightly.

In turn, we will be able to plant verbena in flowerbeds only after May 15, when the risk of frost has passed. However, let us remember to: Harden them off in advance by taking the pots outside during the day and hiding them at night. Thanks to this, they will get used to the new conditions better and will bloom beautifully.
