An event at the headquarters of Fiesp (Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo), last Friday (6), had a moment of embarrassment when the senator (-PR), former Lava Jato judge, and lawyers who were at the forefront of criticism of the operation came face to face.
The meeting was not scheduled and happened because two councils created by had simultaneous meetings at the location, on Avenida Paulista.
The legal council is chaired by former minister Ellen Gracie (STF) and has criminal experts such as Alberto Toron, Flavia Rahal, Pierpaolo Bottini and Eduardo Carnelós, all present at the meeting.
Moro now heads the public security council, which includes, among others, those identified with Bolsonarism.
Responding to Skaf’s request that there be integration between the two councils, Moro and Derrite entered the room where the legal body was meeting to give a greeting and a quick presentation. He sat down next to Ellen.
According to a witness at the scene, there were around 40 people in the room at the time, and there was undisguised embarrassment among the lawyers at the presence of the former judge. The former STF minister herself showed discomfort, according to a participant.
As a Lava Jato judge, the current senator had clashes with several defenders of the accused, who complained about his methods. Several were later instrumental in obtaining nullities in the investigation with the STF.
