Sérgio Antônio Lopes used false documents to take children and teenagers to motels
Latam pilot, Sérgio Antônio Lopes, aged 60, who was arrested this Monday (9) in a aircraft at Congonhas Airport, in the south of São Paulo. According to the Civil Police, he is member of a child sexual exploitation network and would have received an amount for the “sale” of the granddaughters of a 55-year-old woman – also arrested in the action – aged 10, 12 and 14.

The pilot used false documents to take children and teenagers to motels. According to the investigation, the abuses had been committed for at least eight years.
“He had contact with some of the victims and he even took them to a motel with the ID of a person of legal age. One of them, he started abusing when she was 8 years old and today she is 12. The other just turned 18. When he had real physical contact with these children, then he raped them”, said delegate Ivalda Aleixo, director of the State Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP), responsible for the investigation.
In a statement, Latam informed that the pilot was arrested during the boarding procedures for flight LA3900, bound for Rio de Janeiro.
The flight operated normally, taking off and landing at the scheduled time. The company also states that it has opened an internal investigation and is available to the authorities to collaborate with the investigations.
In addition to the two arrests, the police also carried out eight search and seizure warrants against four people being investigated. The actions are carried out in the capital of São Paulo and in Guararema, in the metropolitan region.
The police investigation began in October 2025. Since then, three victims have been identified, aged 11, 12 and 15, all subjected to serious situations of sexual abuse and exploitation.
