CBF follows the ‘playbook’ taking top hats/voters to the World Cup

The CBF is fully paying for tickets, accommodation and all travel expenses for the directors of the 40 clubs in Series A and B to go to the World Cup in the United States. The report by Ricardo Magatti and Marcel Rizzo in Estadão details that, among the objectives, is the presence at the debut of the Brazilian team and the carrying out of “observations” to supposedly improve the governance of the clubs.

I just want to remind you that this is not something new about the current administration. The CBF is strictly following the old “playbook” that we have known for decades.

Ricardo Teixeira did exactly the same in past World Cups, always with the official justification of “technical visits”. Then it became clear that the main objective was to please and retain voters.

The same strategy was repeated by José Maria Marin, Marco Polo Del Nero and Ednaldo Rodrigues.

In all these administrations, the CBF never completely opened the guest list. When a list was leaked during Ednaldo’s time, family members, politicians, artists, authorities from other powers and many other “illustrious” people appeared.

Therefore, at some points, it doesn’t matter who is in power: the playbook remains the same.

And you, what do you think of this? Valid investment or more of the same as usual?

Until next time!
