First European astronaut on a NASA “Artemis” mission

Washington/Paris – For the first time, Europe will have an astronaut in the NASA moon program: The Italian Luca Parmitano will be the first ESA astronaut on an “Artemis” mission. The 49-year-old is one of the four astronauts on “Artemis 3,” said Jared Isaacman, head of the US space agency. “Artemis 3” is scheduled to launch in 2027 – but not to the moon, but only to an Earth orbit for tests. The crew is said to include Americans Andre Douglas, Frank Rubio and Randy Bresnik.
