The senator Flavio Bolsonaropre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic for PL, stated, this Tuesday (9), that, if elected, will be suspended for one year the entry into force of the . According to him, during this time, new rules will be formulated.
“We are going to suspend its entry into force for at least a year, because we have already surpassed the famous Laffer Curve a long time ago. Lots of taxes, very high tax burden and, with that, tax evasion is starting to occur”, he declared, during a visit to Times Brasil/CNBC.
A Laffer curve is the theory that argues that tax increases do not always result in more revenueas excessively high rates discourage the economy and reduce the base.
Flávio stated that, as it stands, the tax reform “came to increase the tax burden” and “further complicated” the tax system. “We have to seek a tax reform that is negative. We can do it, with a more modern, leaner government, using technology, artificial intelligence, tightening the bottlenecks of waste of public money, and with that, we will be able to offer a lower tax burden”, he said.
The senator defended a review for some economic activities. “There are sectors that are impossible to pay. Anyone who is a self-employed professional will pay almost 40% in tax”, he said.
