Iran travels to the USA 1 day before debuting in the 2026 World Cup – 06/09/2026 – Sports

Iran’s national football team, which is based in Mexico for the 2026 World Cup, will travel to the United States a day before its debut against New Zealand, a spokesman for the Iranian Football Federation announced.

“The delegation will travel to the United States on a chartered flight. The team will arrive in the host city (Los Angeles) one day before the match against New Zealand, and for the following two games, we will arrive two days before the start,” said Mehdi Alavi, spokesman for the Iranian Football Federation.

After uncertainty about the players’ participation due to the conflict in the Middle East, they finally obtained their visas, although the same did not happen to some team officials.

On Sunday, the Iranian team arrived at its base in Tijuana, in northern Mexico, which hosts the World Cup together with the United States and Canada.

Iran has its World Cup debut scheduled for June 15th against New Zealand, in Los Angeles, before facing Belgium (on the 21st, also in Los Angeles) and Egypt (on the 26th, in Seattle).

The FFIRI (Iranian football federation) said on Tuesday that its ticket quota had been revoked, leaving Iranian fans who had already made travel plans unable to attend their national team’s games.
