Donald Trump once again starred in a tense moment during an interview with NBC News’ “Meet the Press” program.
The American president questioned the delay in counting votes in the primary elections in California and alleged the existence of electoral fraud, without providing evidence. When he was confronted by journalist Kristen Welker, who said there was no evidence of irregularities, Trump raised the tone of the discussion.
Throughout the exchange of words, the Republican accused the journalist and the media of covering up alleged electoral fraud, resorting to insults and personal criticism. The atmosphere of tension progressively increased until Trump abandoned the interview.
Under California election law, mail-in votes sent by Election Day may continue to be received and counted for several days after the election, which contributes to delays in the release of final results.
