The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), ruled out this Tuesday, 9th, that the vote on the bill that regulates artificial intelligence (AI) will take place this week.
According to Motta, the report by deputy Aguinaldo Ribeiro (PP-PB) is still being prepared and also depends on a dialogue with the Senate, where the proposal should return if it is changed by the deputies.
“We are trying to build, a priori it will not be voted on this week, because we have to see how the report will turn out. There is this issue of locking the agenda too and there is the conversation with the Senate, we are seeing how it will turn out”, declared the parliamentarian to journalists upon arrival at the meeting of Chamber leaders to define the week’s agenda.
Previously, Motta had said that the report would be presented this Tuesday to the special commission that analyzes the matter and would be voted on in June. However, Aguinaldo defends that the text be agreed with the senators, to avoid the process being blocked in the Upper House.
