The senator (PT-AP) stated, this Tuesday (June 9, 2026), that the PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) of the should be forwarded to the Senate’s CCJ (Constitution and Justice Committee) next week. According to the congressman, the proposal will only be processed by a committee to speed up its vote.
“We will vote soon”he told journalists. Randolfe said that the president of the Senate, (União Brasil-AP), is committed to analyzing the matter and that the definition of the rapporteur should be discussed in the coming days with the president of the CCJ, (PSD-BA).
The senator stated that the main point of debate in the Senate should be the transition period for the implementation of the new working day. The text approved by the Chamber establishes an adaptation period of 14 months, but Randolfe said there is a favorable environment in the House to reduce this interval.
“Brazilian workers waited 150 years for the end of 6 X 1. So, why is it necessary to have more time to implement the reduction in working hours?”he stated. According to him, several senators defend a shorter transition and this position would be sympathetic to Alcolumbre.
Randolfe also ruled out discussions about such as payroll tax relief. According to the government leader, the focus of the debate will be exclusively on the application of the PEC.
Commenting on the proposal presented by the opposition leader in the Senate, (PL-RN), a which creates an alternative hiring model based on hours worked, Randolfe stated that the text goes in the opposite direction to reducing working hours.
“It is a PEC in the practice of reestablishing slave labor. It is a PEC of 7 to 0. It is the inverse of the PEC at the end of the 6 X 1 scale”said the PT member.
The senator also stated that Alcolumbre canceled the meetings scheduled for this Tuesday (June 9) with Otto Alencar and party leaders to meet with ministers José Guimarães (Institutional Relations), Bruno Moretti (Planning and Budget) and Dario Durigan (Finance). According to Randolfe, the president of the Senate should also meet with the president (PT) to discuss the topic, although there is still no set date for the meeting.
