Oliveira do Bairro welcomed the 1st Gala of – National Association of Social Gerontology, dedicated to the delivery of the Flag of Social Merit, in a ceremony held on March 25, which was attended by Minister of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security, Maria do Rosรกrio Palha Ramalho.
This distinction recognizes municipalities and parishes that stand out through social intervention projects of relevance to their communities.

A total of 532 candidatures from the entire continental and island territory were subjected, of which 158 were selected to receive the 2025 social merit flag.
The Aljezur Parish Council was one of the distinguished entities, with the project ๐๐จ๐ญ๐ ๐๐ฅ๐ฃ๐๐ณ๐ฎ๐ซ – โa drip that saves livesโ, an initiative specially directed to the elderly population who lives alone, by making available teleassistence devices.
“This project, implemented in 2022, was the result of proximity work with the population and local entities, where the existence of a lack of proximity to the proximity of the population was identified, in particular of the elderly, as well as people with reduced mobility capabilities,” says the Parish Council in a statement.
Currently, the parish has โ๐๐ ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐จ๐ฌ delivered free of charge, which are a more worth for the population.โ
“This flag is the recognition of the social work of proximity that the executive of this parish has been doing, to which we leave a special thanks to all employees and entities that made this project possible,” says the note.
