Doctors hold patients during surgery in the earthquake in Russia





Doctors in the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia, continued surgery even during an 8.8 magnitude earthquake that hit the region on Wednesday (30), local time.

The tremor took place on Tuesday night (29) in Brazil and it was so intense that the professionals had to hold the patient to ensure their safety during the tremors.

In the video released, you can see the doctors keeping their calm and holding the patient as the floor trembled.

The region’s Minister of Health, Oleg Melnikov, highlighted the courage and professionalism of the team. “Despite the danger, doctors kept calm and remained with the patient to the end,” he said, adding that the patient is out of danger.

The earthquake also triggered a tsunami on the Kamtchatka Peninsula, affecting coastal areas of Russia, Japan and the state of Hawaii in the United States.

Local and international authorities issued alerts to the risk of destructive waves in various countries bathed by the Pacific Ocean.

In Hawaii, the waves arrived on the coast at dawn, causing the cancellation of flights in Maui and the suspension of all commercial activity in the region.
