“The experience was horrible”: British 'frustrated' with prices and bad education of places in this tourist destination near Portugal

Traveling is, for many, a way to recover energy, know new places and live unique moments. However, plans do not always run as expected and some escapelas end up frustrated. This was the case of a British tourist who proved deeply disappointed by his stay in Playa del Inglés, a well -known tourist destination on Gran Canaria Island, and decided to expose his experience on social networks, according to the Daily Express newspaper.

A destination that fell short of expectations

Through the Tiktok platform, a user identified as @dannii_xo shared his testimony about the trip. The video, which quickly became viral, shows the visibly dissatisfied traveler with what he found. In the video caption you can read: “This is the signal to do research before booking vacation, we are eager to return home.”

During the video, you can see it lying in a hotel bed with discouraged air. According to the comments left, it was not a single case: several other visitors expressed discontent with similar experiences.

One of the comments highlighted by the same source describes the arrival as a moment of “total panic”, highlighting the disappointment when finding the beach.

Several users suggested other areas of the island, such as maspalomas, amateurs and Puerto Rico, pointing them as more interesting, with better supply of restaurants and leisure zones.

Unpleasant environment and reception

Given the comments received, the author of the video stated that she does not think to return to the destination, stressing that the trip completely altered her perception. He revealed to appreciate continental Spain, but referred to this trip as “a disappointment.”

The above source says that the user reported additional difficulties: “The experience was horrible, the hotel is very weak and people were rude for no reason. I can’t explore anymore because I’m with older family members and is too demanding for them.”

In one of the videos, the tourist, quoted by the newspaper, said: “I feel that I am being fooled,” noting that I had been on the same island two years before and that, however, prices almost doubled.

Social networks as a mirror of experiences

This type of publications shows how social networks have become fundamental in the dissemination of tourist experiences, influencing the decisions of other travelers.

The shared episode serves as a warning for those who plan holidays in crowded destinations, noting that careful research can avoid unpleasant surprises.

Also know, by way of curiosity, that Playa del Inglés was created in the 1960s as a tourist destination and planned to receive European tourists. Unlike many places that have grown organically, this area was fully conceived based on an urban project designed for mass tourism.
