Whether for political reasons, security issues or highly restrictive tourism policies, some countries are simply not receptive to Brazilians
Many Brazilians dream of knowing the world, but not all countries are ready to receive them with open arms.
Even with the passport up to date, seen approved and all intentions to do, there are destinations that impose barriers, make it difficult to access or make the visit extremely risky.
Whether for political reasons, security issues or highly restrictive tourism policies, some countries are simply not receptive to Brazilians – and it is best to think twice before including these places in the script.
6 countries where Brazilians are not welcome even though
1. North Korea
North Korea is one of the most closed countries in the world. Although Brazilians can get permission to visit, this only happens through organized and rigidly monitored tour packages by the local government. That is: nothing freely circulating through the streets or doing your own tours.
Tourists are constantly accompanied by guides and any action considered “inadequate” can be interpreted as an offense to the regime. Until taking photos without permission can generate serious problems. This makes many Brazilians not even consider traveling there, even if, technically, it is possible.
2. Somalia
Somalia, located in Africa’s horn, has faced a serious security crisis for decades. For Brazilians, visiting the country is highly inadvisable. Kidnapping, armed attacks and clashes between militias are part of the local reality.
In addition, Somalia has virtually no tourist structure. Safe hotels, reliable guides and proper transportation are very rare. Even if the Brazilian has the courage and gets a visa, the experience can become a nightmare. Therefore, the recommendation is to avoid.
3. Eritreia
Another African country that offers great barriers is Eritreia. In addition to an authoritarian regime that restricts basic freedoms, the visa request process is extremely bureaucratic. To make matters worse, the country has no diplomatic representation in Brazil.
In other words, the Brazilian needs to resort to embassies from other countries to try to authorize. Even so, the visa may take months and there is no guarantees of approval. Lack of tourist infrastructure and tension climate make Eritreia a complicated and uncomfortable choice for any traveler.
4.
Bhutan may even seem like an exotic and charming destination, hidden between the mountains of Himalayan. But the reality is that the country does not facilitate the entry of tourists – especially Brazilians.
To visit Butão, it is mandatory to hire a local tourism agency and pay packages in advance, with very high amounts. In addition, the visa needs to be requested in advance, which eliminates the chance of spontaneous or low cost travel.
This system aims to control tourism and preserve the local culture. However, it makes the country inaccessible to many Brazilians seeking freedom and economy during travel.
5. Afghanistan
Afghanistan does not directly prohibit the entry of Brazilians, but the risks involved speak louder. Constant armed conflicts, political instability, and the presence of extremist groups make the country one of the most dangerous in the world for tourists.
Although the visa process is not the most difficult, few Brazilians risk visiting. The official recommendation of several international organs is clear: avoid any type of displacement to Afghanistan. The danger is real, and the chance of complications is very high.
6. Pakistan
Finally, Pakistan imposes a series of obstacles to Brazilians interested in visiting the country. In addition to a complex bureaucratic process, which requires detailed documents and, often, a range letter, there is another problem: the lack of embassies and consulates outside Brasilia.
This makes access to visa to those who live in other regions of Brazil. Despite having incredible sights, Pakistan is still out of the radar of many Brazilians because of these barriers.
