The Palestinian Football Association announced the death of Suleiman al-Obeid, Palestinian football star, after Israeli shots during the distribution of help in the south of the Gaza Strip on Wednesday.

The player, born in the city of Gaza, was 41 years old, was married and father of five children.

“Suleiman al -obeid, a former national team player and star of Khadamat al-Shati, died after shooting the Israeli occupation against people waiting for humanitarian aid in the southern Gaza Strip on Wednesday,” the association published on its website.

Nicknamed “The Gazela”, “Black Pearl” and even “Pelé of Palestinian Football”, he began his career at the Khadamat Al-Shati Club.

His talent and speed led him to the national team, with which he played 24 international matches. He has scored more than one hundred goals throughout his long career.

According to the association, death raises to 321 the number of its members-between players, coaches, referees, managers and members of the Administrative Council-who have lost their lives since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas war.
