The Judiciary Police identified this Thursday a minor, 14 years old, for the presumed authorship of several forest fires, triggered in the summer period, in the last four years, in parishes of Fafe municipality.
During the last four years, the parishes of Seids, Ardenão and Arnozelain the municipality of Fafe, district of Braga, were systematically plagued by fires.
It is now known that the culprit is a 14 -year -old child.
In a statement, the Judiciary Police (PJ) states that the minor will have set the fires for revolt and frustration, due to poor school performance and weak social relations.
According to police, those three parishes of Fafe, in the district of Braga, during the summer of the last four years systematically plagued by fires Forestry, sometimes with daily recurrences“Causing concern among local populations and consuming several hectares of forest.”
This year, the suspect, residing in Seidõesit made raids on several local forest zones, sometimes using a use of a scooterand burned several hills, with matchesthen put himself afterwards on the run, towards his residence, where he remained a refugee.
Once identified by the PJ, The minor confessed the factswhich will now be communicated to the Public Prosecution Service to continue the respective procedures, namely in the Family and Minor Court.
The PJ also says that it is not to rule out the possibility that, in some situations, the minor has worked in groups.
In 2024, of the 3181 rural fires investigating (of which the rekindies were excluded), 42% were caused by fireand these same fires were responsible for 84% of the burned area.
