For the fifth year in a row, an Asian country has been distinguished as the cheapest country to reside, according to the International Internations Network. The assessment took into account the opinion of local residents, tourists and expatriates.
According to the Spanish newspaper As, the data reveal that 89% of foreign workers living in Vietname are satisfied with the cost of living. In addition, 87% consider that their income is enough to ensure a comfortable life, even far from its home countries.
The result consolidates the image of Vietname as a country that, besides being affordable, offers safety, stability and a rich culture. The global peace index attributed a score of 1.72, positioning it in 38th place among 163 countries evaluated.
An exotic destination on the rise
Contrasting landscapes, ancient history and renowned gastronomy make this Asian territory one of the most sought after. The accessible cost of living attracts not only tourists, but also those who want to settle in the long run.
With a western reference salary, it is possible to enjoy prices considered very low in almost all areas, from food to accommodation.
The safe environment and political stability further reinforce Vietnam’s appeal as an international destination of residence.
Prices that surprise
Eating outside is particularly cheap. An economic meal can cost just over € 1.60, while a two -person dinner is around 23 €.
Also the basic products of everyday life have reduced values: a 500 gram bread bar costs an average of € 0.76, a kilo of € 0.87 bananas and a kilo of tomatoes 0.92 €.
Fruit, vegetables and foods sold in street markets become a practical and economic solution for both a quick meal and for cooking at home.
Accessible transportation
Mobility also does not represent a great charge. The monthly public transport pass has an average cost of 6.90 €, while a taxi trip of a kilometer surrounds the 0.46 €.
Already a liter of gasoline costs about 0.71 €, which makes the use of private vehicles more viable than in many European countries.
Housing with low prices
Accommodation is one of the factors that weigh the most in the monthly budget. In this country, average values are significantly lower than in much of Europe.
It is possible to lease a house for less than 300 € per month. On average, the value is € 287.50, which explains the growing interest of foreigners in living there beyond vacation.
This reduced cost, coupled with quality of life, reinforces the position of this country as one of the most attractive destinations for those looking to start over, as well as being the cheapest country in the world.

According to the same study, and according to, the ten cheapest countries in the world to live are: Vietname, Colombia, Panama, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Mexico, Malaysia and Brazil.
They all share similar characteristics: low cost of living, attractive climate and opportunities that combine tourism and long -term homes.
