Trump says that United Kinged Relationship is “more than special” in banquet with the king

United States President Donald Trump and King Charles III reinforced on Wednesday the importance of the historical relationship between the US and the United Kingdom during a state banquet in the Windsor castle.

In his speech, Trump stated that the expression “special relationship” is not enough to describe the ties between the two nations, citing history, culture, language and “destiny” as elements that unite countries.

King Charles, in turn, praised Trump’s “personal commitment” to seek global conflict solutions and highlighted the strategic partnership in defending democracy.

Without directly citing specific wars, the monarch mentioned joint support to Ukraine and said the two countries maintain “the relationship of defense, safety and nearest intelligence ever known.”

The event was attended by about 160 guests, including British Prime Minister Keir Strmer, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, OpenAi CEO Sam Altman, the media tycoon Rupert Murdoch and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

Trump, who participates in his second state visit to the United Kingdom – something unpublished for an American president – classified the invitation as “one of the greatest honors” of his life. In a relaxed tone, he joked that he hopes to be the only president to receive such a distinction.

The king also made jokes, recalling rumors from the 1970s about a possible romance with then -President Richard Nixon’s daughter.

The banquet, held in the historic St. George’s Hall, was marked by gestures of cordiality and diplomatic symbolism.

In addition to reinforcing the political and military alliance, the meeting sought to strengthen economic and cultural ties, at a time when both countries face geopolitical challenges and seek to reaffirm their role in the international scene.
