1.4 billion people worldwide suffer from high blood pressure, but less than 1 in 5 (320 million) manage to control it by medication or by approaching risk factors.
There are some of the conclusions of the WHO report “The Global Hypertension Report 2025”, which presents a worrying image for one of the main causes of cardiovascular events, reports
“Every hour, over 1,000 lives are lost due to stroke and heart attacks caused by high blood pressure, and most of these deaths can be prevented,” said the general director of WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, according to ANSA.
“With political will, investments and reforms to integrate the control of high blood pressure in health services, we can save millions of lives and ensure universal health coverage for all,” he added.
In Italy, 42% of the population between the ages of 30 and 79 suffer from high blood pressure, which equals about 16.5 million people. Of these, almost 11 million do not have sufficient control of the condition. In addition, about a third I do not know that they suffer from this condition.
