Ministry of Justice issues recommendation after methanol poisoning

The MJSP (Ministry of Justice and Public Security) issued an urgent recommendation to establishments that sell alcohol in the state of São Paulo and in nearby regions.

The measure is adopted in the face of the record of at least nine cases of methanol poisoning in the last 26 days, with. All occurrences are related to adulterated alcohol intake.

The technical note points to the need for joint action between government, private sector and society in combating forgery practices. Priority must be prioritized to buy, with conference and product traceability.

The document recommends attention to items with crooked seals, obvious printing errors and atypically low prices.

The text also warns that they should be treated as symptoms such as cloudy vision, headache and nausea.

If consumers express these symptoms, the recommendation is for the establishments to refer to urgent medical care and trigger the dial-toxication. It is also indicated to communicate local health surveillance, as well as Civil Police, Procon and, if applicable, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.

In these cases, establishments must also interrupt the sale of the lot, isolate the products and preserve them for any expertise.

The MJSP document is directed to bars, restaurants, nightclubs, hotels, event organizers, markets, attacks, distributors, e -commerce platforms and delivery applications.
