Ukraine seeks agreements on weapons and drones in imminent visit to the USA

Ukrainian authorities will visit the United States this month or next to negotiate major gun purchases and drone production agreements, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Saturday.

Zelenskiy was in the United States this week to the UN General Assembly and to meet US President Donald Trump. He said he shared with Trump “a certain view of what could be done” to respond to Russia’s actions in his war against Ukraine.

Ukraine has prepared a list of about $ 90 billion in US weapons you want to buy.

“In addition to the great arms agreement, which we call ‘Mega Deal’, we also discussed ‘Drone Deal’. Technical groups are already starting to work in this agreement,” Zelenskiy told reporters about his US visit.

“These are drones that the United States will buy directly from Ukraine.”

For over three and a half years of war, Ukraine has created a drone industry from scratch, with hundreds of producers producing millions of drones, but the country has no financial resources to further increase production.

Ukraine also depends greatly on the supply of weapons of its Western Allies, especially for air defense.

Zelenskiy said Ukraine has already implemented a Patriot Antimissile Defense System recently received from Israel and hopes to receive two more systems in this fall.

Strengthen air defense and protect cities and residents from Russian bombing remains one of Zelenskiy’s government priorities.

In recent months, Russia has intensified its attacks with drones and missiles, sometimes sending hundreds of drones a night.

Ukraine is responding by sending its own drones to achieve Russian energy and oil facilities, and Zelenskiy indicated that it may have other ideas.

“It is useless to expect Russia to take conciliatory measures regarding Ukraine. Therefore, Ukraine must take the appropriate measures regarding Russia,” he said.
