Due to increasing raw material prices and unfavorable weather conditions in the coffee growing countries, the espresso in Italy threatens to become more and more bitter – not in taste, but in price. The price for a cup of coffee at the bar, which has increased by 20 percent since 2021, could continue to attract. More and more Italians are on austerity course and are increasingly reaching the tried and tested mocha break instead of coffee capsules, as an analysis of consumer protection associations shows.
