“It was my dream job”: how the employees of Kika and Leiner are doing today

It has been almost a year since the employees of Kika/Leiner learned from the impending from their company. One last renovation attempt by the owner Hermann Wieser had failed. Wieser took over the operational business of the furniture store chain in 2023 by René Benkos Signa Group. This in turn had already acquired the stumbling furniture dealer from South African Steinhoff Group in 2018. The last remaining branches were finally closed at the end of January 2025. As a result, around 1,350 employees lost their workplace.
