The end of the weekday that marked the national holiday of Children’s Day was responsible for a high of 17.9% no national tradepoints out a survey carried out by Itaú Unibanco. The data shows a movement in Brazilian retail above the same period last yearbetween October 11th and 12th.
Despite the date dedicated to childhood, the category that grew the most was not toys — which came second, with an increase of 22% —, but tripswhich showed an advance of 46,7%.
The numbers analyzed by the bank indicate that the sectors most benefited from the holiday were the following:
- travel agencieswith an increase of 46,7%
- toyswith an increase of 22,9%
- department storeswith an increase in 18,3%
- shoeswith an increase of 12,1%
- recreationwith an increase in 11%
Sales include payments using Pix e debit and credit cardsmade from individuals to companies in online and in-person purchases.

The research also showed that, among those who intended to buy gifts, men led the way in willingness to spend, with the Southeast being the region with the highest average value spent (R$248).
Despite the growth of e-commerce among young people, physical stores still remained a consumer favorite.
