Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon’s cloud services platform, faced major instability this Monday (10/20), causing the crash and malfunction of several applications and websites around the world, including Snapchat, Fortnite, Facebook and Prime Video itself.

According to the website Downdetectorreports of failures began this morning. AWS confirmed it was investigating the issue, which involved “increased error rates and latencies across multiple services.”

“We are working on several parallel paths to accelerate recovery”, informed the company in an official note.

Also according to Downdetector, the failure impacted other global services and resources that depend on physical or virtual devices connected to the network. During the period of instability, customers reported difficulties creating or updating support cases.

Amazon reported that initial mitigation measures have already been applied and that services have begun to be gradually restored. However, some requests may still be limited while the technical team works towards complete normalization.

Even with the failures, the company guaranteed that the main systems continue to operate, even though there is an accumulation of events on platforms such as CloudTrail and the Lambda.
