Three parishes repeated the vote two weeks later. 131-125 in Cabreiro, winner in Arcas wanted a single and united list.
Not all locations had a clear winner on October 12th, election day autarchic this year.
This Sunday, two weeks after the election, three parishes went to vote again. All in the north of the country: parishes in the municipalities of Arcos de Valdevez, Monção and Macedo de Cavaleiros.
All voters in Arcas, Lara and Cabreiro were called again because, in all these parishes, there was one in the vote held on the 12th.
Arks
The parish of Arcas, in the municipality of Macedo de Cavaleiros, will have a new president of the Board.
Mickael Silva, PSD/CDS-PP candidate, beat the PS candidate and current president of the junta, Ana Martins, by 19 votes.
Two weeks ago, each candidate had registered 100 votes each. The general tabulation assembly analyzed the ballots and took one vote from each one, but the tie remained.
The winner was relieved but considers that in places like his there should be a single, united list.
“It doesn’t make sense in villages as small as ours to have this duality, these two lists, and I think that a common list will increasingly have to be formed, a single list, where there is consensus”, Mickael Silva told Lusa, who confessed to feeling “relief” with the election and that now it is time “for the warrior to rest”.
The mayor said he had also spoken to the candidate and competitor Ana Martins so that just one list could be formed, but both had already been approached by the parties and, therefore, “it was not possible”.
Lara
The Juntos Por Lara movement won the elections for the Parish Assembly of Lara, in the municipality of Monção, and in the Chamber the PSD had five elected, while the PS elected two members.
The Juntos Por Lara movement had 98 votes and four mandates; the PSD got 89 votes and has three mandates. A difference of 9 votes.
The parish of Lara repeated the vote this Sunday for the three municipal bodies, after on October 12 there was a tie of 85 votes between the PSD candidacy and that of the Juntos Por Lara movement.
In this Sunday’s vote, 127 Lara voters voted for the PSD for the Monção Chamber and 57 voted for the PS.
Goat
More balanced was the vote for the Cabreiro Parish Assembly (Arcos de Valdevez, Viana do Castelo).
The PSD won with 49.81% of the votes and four elected, after a draw of 120 votes for the election of the new president of the Parish Council, two weeks ago.
In this Sunday’s results, the PSD had 131 votes and the Todos Por Cabreiro movement had 125. In other words, a difference of just 6 votes.
The PSD has four elected representatives and the Todos Por Cabreiro movement is represented with three elected representatives in the Cabreiro Parish Assembly.
