The Municipality of Portimão announced that several works are underway to install electrical and telecommunications infrastructure in the city center, as part of the “Digital Commercial District” project, which aims to reinforce connectivity and modernize urban space.
According to the municipality, “this is a set of interventions that aim to improve the communications network and prepare urban space for new technological and digital solutions”.
The works, which will take place over the next few months, are part of a broader digital transformation plan and include the provision of public Wi-Fi, interactive billboards and intelligent information systems in the city center.
“Until the end of December, specific restrictions on traffic and pedestrian circulation may occur, duly signposted”, said the Municipality of Portimão, highlighting that “this is an important step towards modernizing and revitalizing the heart of Portimão, making it more interconnected, attractive and dynamic”.
Portimão’s Digital Commercial District focuses on the historic center and aims to modernize and boost local economic activity, promoting the digitalization of businesses and reducing constraints associated with the sale of products and services.
According to , this project represents a strategic investment in urban innovation, creating a more intelligent, sustainable and competitive space, in line with new technological and consumer trends.
