Autumn is in full swing and nature has already decided to remind us of itself. After a cool and rainy summer, autumn has come and it does not skimp on rainfall. Just last week, forecasters predicted that the end of October and the beginning of November would be cold and windy. However, the latest models indicate that temperatures in some places in Poland may reach values of up to 20 degrees Celsius. In the following days of November 2025, cooling will come and mountain areas will appear. Last weekend, a huge snowstorm paralyzed, among others, Szklarka Poręba. Snow fell for the first time in 16 years in our neighbors, the Czech Republic, and it continued in the Šumava, Karkonosze and Jeseníky Mountains at the same time. – At least 20 cm of snow lies in October somewhere in the mountains in the Czech Republic, on average once every three years. However, for snow to lie in Šumava, the Karkonosze and the Jeseníky Mountains at the same time, it is difficult to find such data in the archive. The last time this happened was in 2009, reported the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute.
Is this a sign of a snowy winter? The first meteorological data actually indicated that Europe could be hit by a real winter this year. Some even talked about the winter of the century. However, the models have already changed and the latest forecasts indicate a trend similar to what we know from recent years. Interia reports that, according to models of the European Center for Medium-Term Weather Forecasts, the winter of 2025/2026 will be relatively warm and rainy. Data indicate that December may be up to 2.5 degrees Celsius warmer than normal. This is a significant anomaly that will affect our well-being.
Will we have a white Christmas?
Everything indicates that snow will not fall again on Christmas Day. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management indicates that the end of 2025 will probably not deviate from the norm. Rain or snow may occur only in January. Forecasters predict that this year’s winter will be more rainy than snowy.
Contrary to appearances, it may turn out to be worse for our health. High air humidity and positive temperatures may favor the multiplication of bacteria and viruses during the peak season for influenza and other diseases. Therefore, it is worth taking good care of your immunity and remembering hygiene rules, such as washing your hands. When dressing, it is worth choosing waterproof clothing that will protect us not only from the cold. Waterproof shoes will be especially important. They may prove to be the basis of fashion for winter 2025/2026.
