Palmeiras secured a place in the final of the Copa Libertadores by beating LDU Quito 4-0, in the early hours of this Friday, at Allianz Parque. Abel Ferreira’s team achieved a historic turnaround after a 3-0 defeat in the first leg, and the Portuguese coach ended up in tears at the end.
Ramón Sosa opened the scoring in the 19th minute and Fuchs doubled the lead before the break. In the second half, Raphael Veiga scored two goals, one of them a penalty, and confirmed passage to the final.
Excited, Abel Ferreira said: “It’s a relief. I still can’t enjoy the victories. Family for me is everything. I cried and I’m crying now.”
Palmeiras will face Flamengo in the final, on November 29, at the Monumental Stadium, in Lima, in search of their fourth continental title.
