Diesel at €0.96 per liter: see where the station 'next' to the Algarve is with this price

The price per liter of diesel has fallen again in Spain, with some stations recording unprecedented values since the summer. The drop puts a liter below 1 euro in certain regions, reviving the interest of many Portuguese drivers in crossing the border to refuel.

Where is diesel under 1 euro

The cheapest diesel of the week is in Córdoba, in Andalusia, the neighboring region of the Algarve. At the Cotranco gas station, on Calle Simón Carpintero 24, a liter of diesel A is marked at 0.960 euros, according to the European Union Petroleum Bulletin compiled by the Spanish press, referred to by the Spanish online newspaper. In Murcia, on Calle Bolos 4, the cost is 1,018 euros, and at Cartagena bus station it costs 1,074 euros per liter.

For 95 unleaded gasoline, the lowest price of the week is in Benissa, Alicante. At Roselló, on Calle Margenadors Dels 8, a liter costs 1,227 euros. In Córdoba, at Avenida del Zafiro 2, there are prices from 1,245 euros at both Autacor and Ballenoil.

National trend in Spain

At national level, the average price of a liter of diesel stood at 1,394 euros, registering the third consecutive week of declines. Gasoline 95 fell to 1,464 euros per liter, the fifth consecutive drop. In 2025, gasoline is around 4% cheaper than in 2024 and diesel is around 3.4% lower.

Filling an average 55-liter tank with diesel in Spain costs, on average, 76.67 euros. In the case of 95 gasoline, the same deposit costs 80.52 euros. The values remain below those practiced at the start of the war in Ukraine and far from the highs of the summer of 2022, when both fuels exceeded 2 euros per liter.

Comparison with the European Union

Even with recent fluctuations, prices in Spain remain lower than European averages. 95 gasoline remains below European Union and euro zone references, and diesel fuel is also lower than these averages. This difference helps to explain why some Portuguese drivers consider refueling “next door”, especially in the south.

Prices at the pump depend on several factors, from the price of refined products to taxes, logistics costs and gross margins. Variations in crude oil are not immediately translated into final prices, there is a time lag until they reach service stations. Therefore, declines in the markets may take a few days to be reflected in the consumer.

Pay attention to online information sources

When comparing prices and planning trips, only use official or recognized platforms and be wary of intrusive forms. Protecting your identity on the internet is essential, avoiding any suspicious requests for data or proposals to sell lists and contacts. This ensures informed and safe decisions while monitoring market variations.
