One man identified as Wendel Martins Vieira27 years old, known as “Wendel Mac” and appointed as one of the leaders of the CV (Comando Vermelho) in Fortaleza (CE), he was arrested in the rural area of Exuin the Sertão de Pernambuco.
The capture took place last Thursday (30), during a joint operation by the Civil Police of Pernambuco (PCPE) and Ceará (PCCE). Information about the operation and confirmation of the prisoner’s identity were confirmed this Sunday (2) by security authorities.
According to investigations, the suspect played a leadership role within the criminal faction, being responsible for coordinating the group’s actions in the Metropolitan Region of Fortaleza (CE) and maintain connections with Comando Vermelho centers in other states.
According to PCCE, “Wendel Mac” was investigated for homicide and drug trafficking, in addition to already being responsible for crimes such as association for trafficking, reception and being part of a criminal organization. There was a preventive arrest warrant issued against him by the Ceará Court.
During the police action in Exu, he was located in a residence in the rural area of the municipality, where a quantity of marijuana was also found. With the seizure, the agents formalized the arrest of Wendel for the crime of drug trafficking.
Also according to PCCE, the suspect is investigated by the 2nd Homicide and Personal Protection Police Station for involvement in an attack that occurred in November 2024, in the Bom Jardim neighborhood, in Fortaleza, which resulted in a homicide and three other people injured by gunshots.
In a statement, PCPE confirmed that the man has already undergone a custody hearing, but that, so far, there is no information whether the prisoner will be transferred to Ceará or will remain in Pernambuco.
“After the administrative measures, the captured man was sent to a custody hearing, remaining at the disposal of the Court,” explained the police.
