Canelas and Grijó/Serzedo, in Vila Nova de Gaia, are expected to be the areas that will suffer most from the effects of the installation of the high-speed line.

According to RECAPE (Environmental Compliance Report of the Execution Project), between homes and businesses, adding homes and businesses, the TGV between Porto and Oiã will require 230 expropriations.

The report, in the public consultation phase, is cited by , which details that Canelas and Grijó/Serzedo, in Vila Nova de Gaia, are the areas that will suffer most from the effects of the new proposal to install the high-speed line.

As the morning report details, the route, which was 70.5 km, plus 8.3 km connecting to Canelas, now has 71 km, plus 16.6 km to Canelas. THE affected area grew from 416 to 535 hectares.

The São Caetano Industrial Zone Association, in Gaia, which brings together more than 20 companies and 220 jobs, is concerned about the change in the route, which could force expropriations that were not planned for São Caetano.

In another article, he also reveals the three main changes to the TGV project in Porto and Gaia, which are included in RECAPE, in relation to the previous study. They are:

  • a Gaia station on the surface – initially planned as an underground construction, between the D. João II and Santo Ovídio metro stations, in a tunnel at depths between 30 and 70 meters. In the execution project, it is stated that, after all, “the station will be built on the surface, approximately 2 km south of the previous location, in Laborim de Baixo”.
  • After all, there will be two bridges over the Douro river. Initially, it was planned as a single bridge, with two decks: the upper one for the railway line and the lower one for the cars. Now, the solution is different: “It was decided to build two independent bridges (…) The need for this solution is based on multiple factors: risks of delays in the work, as the construction of the lower deck could only begin after the completion of the upper deck and in this way they can be built in parallel; costs similar to those of the single bridge, but with clear operational and aesthetic advantages”.
  • already Campanhã stationthe idea of having a fully sheltered bridge station was abandoned. As JN states, what would initially be a fully sheltered passage with support equipment, including commercial ones, will now be partially exposed.
