Husum – Germany’s Chancellor Friedrich Merz is pushing for a quick resumption of deportations to Syria and wants to personally advocate for this with the Syrian interim president Ahmed al-Sharaa. “The civil war in Syria is over. There are no longer any reasons for asylum in Germany and that is why we can start with returns,” said Merz during a visit to Husum in Schleswig-Holstein.
