Tom Brady publicly shared that his dog Junie is a clone of Luna, a pet that he and Gisele Bündchen adopted during their marriage and that died in December 2023. The revelation was made this Tuesday (4), the same day that Colossal Biosciences, a biotechnology company in which the former player is an investor, announced a new movement in the animal cloning sector.
According to information from People magazine, Colossal worked directly on Luna’s cloning, using a blood sample collected while the dog was still alive. The company, based in Texas, United States, is known for research involving extinct species and, more recently, acquired Viagen Pets and Equine, a company specialized in genetic replication of domestic animals and already responsible for cloning the pets of celebrities such as Barbra Streisand and Paris Hilton.
Brady stated that he decided to clone Luna because she had a strong emotional role in the family, especially for his children Benjamin, 15, and Vivian, 12. “I love my animals. They mean the world to me and my family,” said the former athlete, explaining that the blood collection was done non-invasively, during the dog’s old age. From this genetic material, Junie was born, who now lives with the former player. She has similar appearance and physical characteristics to Luna, a pit bull mix.

During his marriage to Gisele, Luna was a constant presence in family photos and even starred alongside the player in a commercial in 2014.
On social media, in December 2023, the model mourned the death of her four-legged companion. “Our little Lulu, our guardian angel, has gone to heaven. She will live forever in our hearts,” he wrote.
Brady also publicly said goodbye, describing Luna as an essential part of the family routine. Months later, with Junie’s arrival, he explained that he sees cloning as a way of keeping alive the emotional connection built over the years and, according to him, also as a promising technology for conserving endangered species.
