The first female speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States Congress and key figure within the Democratic party, Nancy Pelosi says goodbye to politics after forty years in it, as she announced this Thursday.
“I always tell my colleagues in the House, regardless of the title they have given me – president, leader, caucus coordinator – that there has been no greater honor for me than to be on the floor of the House and say: ‘I speak on behalf of the people of San Francisco,'” the 85-year-old Democrat announced through a video shared on social networks.
