Doctors at Amadora-Sintra Hospital denounce “unsustainable situation”

15 minutes: Increased pressure in Amadora-Sintra and the sciences of responsibility in Barreiro

Thirty doctors from the Amadora-Sintra Hospital denounced the situation that they say is unsustainable in the emergency room and ask for the Order’s intervention. They will meet with the administration next week.

In a letter sent to the president of the order, the doctors asked for help to solve the problems in Amadora-Sintra. They denounce an unsustainable situation that has been recurring. They speak of a reality that goes beyond all limits of safety and professional dignity.

Doctors explain that the emergency service operates with “small teams and elements that are not very differentiated”.

This Saturday, average waiting times in emergency services were once again well above recommended levels. Just like last weekend, when the waiting time exceeded 24 hours.

Contacted by SIC, the president of the Order of Doctors says he will only speak after the meeting with the hospital administration and health professionals. The meeting should take place at the beginning of next week.
