Nicolás Maduro, leader of Venezuela, sang the song Imagineby John Lennon, in front of a rally in Venezuela, in a new appeal for peace to the USA at a rally this Saturday.
The event brought together authorities and supporters of the Chavista leader’s government. On stage, Maduro quoted Lennon when asking for “peace, peace, peace” and then recalled the line “imagine all the people”. Participants made the classic peace gesture with their hands while music played over the speakers.
The gesture comes amid tensions between Venezuela and the United States, with an intensification of American armed forces in the Caribbean in recent weeks.

More recently, the United States opened a new chapter in the military escalation against what the White House calls “narcoterrorism” in Latin America. The Secretary of Defense — now officially addressed by the Trump administration as “Secretary of War” — Pete Hegseth who mobilizes the Southern Command and a task force aimed at targeting organizations involved in international trafficking.
Military mobilization
The operation takes place after weeks of strengthening American military positioning. The US has already carried out this, especially in the Caribbean, leaving 80 dead.
Pressure on Venezuela
Trump once again accused the Venezuelan president, which Maduro denies. Caracas responded by announcing a national military mobilization, claiming that Washington was “fabricating a war” against the country.

The rhetoric inflamed rumors about a possible ground attack, which Trump did not rule out in a recent interview with CBS: “I’m not going to say what I’m going to do with Venezuela.”
