The president of the PT, Gleisi Hoffmann, stated this Monday (9) that she considers the mass co-optation of voters between municipalities to be “very serious”.
The possible national scope of the scheme was revealed by Sheet.
“The suspicion of fraud involving small and medium-sized municipalities in the 2024 elections is very serious: the purchase of mass votes through the collective and illegal transfer of voter registration cards between one city and another, which may have been decisive for the result at the polls “, wrote Gleisi on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
A Sheet showed in reports that the aea carried out several arrests, operations and investigations throughout the country as a result of block transfers of electoral residences.
The suspicion is that candidates for mayor and councilor in small and medium-sized cities attracted voters from neighboring municipalities by promising money or benefits.
Data collected by Sheet in the (Superior Electoral Court) show that 82 municipalities — the majority of them with less than 10 thousand inhabitants — saw their electorate grow between 20% and 46% just with the transfer of titles from other cities.
Due to this, 58 of these cities experience the unusual situation of having more formal voters than the resident population.
Gleisi said that the party will follow the Justice and PF investigations. “Democracy is built, above all, with transparency and honesty.”
