The senator (PL-RJ) participated in a lunch at the Swiss investment bank UBS, in , this Thursday (11), in a first move to get closer to Faria Lima while trying.
Flávio was taken to the bank by businessman Filipe Sabará, former secretary of Social Development in São Paulo, who coordinated ()’s campaign for city hall in the capital of São Paulo and assists the senator’s campaign.
At lunch, there were businesspeople such as Flavio Rocha (Riachuelo), Alexandre Ostrowiecki (Multilaser), Richard Gerdau (Gerdau), Helio Seibel (Duratex) and Mario Araripe (Casa dos Ventos), according to the Sabará team, as well as bank directors.
UBS is one of the largest investment banks in the world and maintains an operation in Brazil focused on wealth management, corporate finance and capital markets.
In a statement, the institution said that it “regularly holds various customer-facing events. These initiatives are a common market practice, in line with industry standards.”
The text further states that “UBS maintains a strictly neutral and non-partisan stance in all its activities. The presence of guests does not constitute institutional endorsement of political positions, candidacies or agendas.”
The conversation sought to highlight that Flávio would start from a high floor in voting intention polls. The senator also presented himself as a “more centered Bolsonaro”, compared to his father, known for outbursts of aggression, according to Sabará.
“The group was trying to understand what his turn in the economy would be like. So, they reinforced their proximity to Paulo Guedes. [Gustavo] Montesano [ex-presidente do BNDES]o [Adolfo] He doesn’t like it [ex-ministro de Minas e Energia]the people who worked with Guedes, are providing support. And Faria Lima really likes Guedes’ work. So, it was very interesting”, said the senator’s ally.
In the assessment of Flávio’s team, the financial market was with (Republicans) and is now seeking to get to know the former president’s son better to decide whether to embark on his campaign. Flávio should visit other Faria Lima institutions next week.
