The film world mourns: the multiple winner († 98) of the Oscar has left forever!

After an interview with his family, Swiss journalist and producer Yves Kugelmann, editor-in-chief of the Jewish newspaper Tachles, stated this on Friday, TASR reports, according to a report by the DPA agency.

According to his own words, Kugelmann was still in Jerusalem at the beginning of this week, but he could no longer meet Cohn in person. The announcement of Cohn’s death was also sent by e-mail by his longtime colleague Pierre Rothschild, writes DPA.

Cohn won Oscars along with other nominees for his skillful three documentaries, including the picture „One day in September“ of 2000 about the attack by a Palestinian terrorist organization on the Israeli team at the 1972 Munich Olympics.

In 1962 he was awarded for the film “Sky Above and Mud Beneath” about a former Dutch colony in Southeast Asia. In 1991, he subsequently won an Oscar for the film “American Dream”, which deals with the labor struggle of American factory workers in the 1950s.

The funeral is scheduled to take place on Saturday evening and will be broadcast live on the channel on the YouTube platform, it is stated in the notification. Cohn lived for several years with his son, the actor Emanuel Cohn, in Jerusalem. Before that, he worked for decades in Basel, Switzerland. According to his son, he was still working on a new film project last year, adds DPA.
